I have no idea what parts are poking me at any given time. Are you all really able to tell the difference between a butt, a head or a shoulder? Or are you just guessing?
i am so glad you posted this- it makes me feel better because i have no clue. The guesses i make are off the fact that as of saturday our baby was frank breech. However I feel a lot of low movement and can't figure out what it would be for the life of me (DH says it must be the baby farting since the butt is the only thing down there- but i think not )

My doc said the best way to tell the head from the butt is that the head is just the slightest bit harder & rounder. Also if you lay flat on your back, you can sometimes follow the line of the baby's back and tell which end is which.
I can only tell sometimes. After my dr told me baby was head down, I could kind of figure some things out. The baby's head is down, its back comes up the right side of my belly and the butt is on top. So I don't know if the hands, feet, knees, etc are moving on the left side, but I know then it moves its butt or head for SURE.

Mine is frank breech too. Doc said the low feeling is her butt wiggling around where it's settled into my pubic bone. Also, even with a frank breech, baby can sometimes get one foot up and one foot down, so you might be feeling that too!
Even doctors get it wrong sometimes. Two of my friends have had surprise breech babies despite multiple medical professionals assuring them their babies were head down. One was induced before they realized her baby was frank breech and rushed her off for a c/s. The other managed to deliver her frank breech baby vaginally.
My baby has been in the exact same position throughout the whole pregnancy, so I can tell. I know where his feet and hands are based on his head and until he removes his head from my ribs, I know EXACTLY where that is.
My little guy has been in the same position for a very long time. Head way down low, so all fluttering movement low I attribute to hands. His back is on my right side and I can definitely tell the difference between butt (high right side/middle) and the feet which kick me in various places from mid to high left side. I love it when he stretches his little legs out so that I have sharp little feet sticking out the left side of my belly and a rounded bottom nudging out the right side of my belly. Since he's dropped in the last couple of days, I can also feel feet pushing up on the top of my belly quite often.

One of those three body parts is jammed in my rib cage.
I think it's his head or his butt.
