I plan on letting DS#2 CIO at 4 months. He'll be 4 months next week and I really need my sleep. Is there any reason why I shouldn't be able to do it now. How much difference will a week really make?

    oohh, my girl is 4 months. there is NO way I could CIO. We won't even try to let this happen till closer to 6. probably more like 7 months. but, thats just me.

    I know. I need to change my siggy pic and tickers. I keep forgetting to do it. I did CIO with my oldest at 4 months or so and it was fine, I was just thinking a week really wouldn't make too much of a difference. I didn't know if anyone else had experience with it or not.

    you haven't lurked here long enough to know that you probably aren't going to get any positive responses to this?  most proponents of CIO don't even recommend starting until 6 months.

    I don't think you should get flamed for CIO at 4 months...don't people on here usually say 4m is the earliest you should try it?

    If you're OK with doing it and you think your LO is ready, then maybe try it once or twice and see how it goes...nothing says that just because you CIO once (or try to CIO and fail) that you'll never pick your baby up and rock him/her again...

    To me, I think it's still early but I hardly think there will be permanent damage from trying it a couple times...

    Sorry, I'm usually on the WC board. I thought that you could start at 4 months?

    Ditto this.  Just yesterday there was a whole post about this and everyone was saying "4 months".  Now- someone wants to start it at 4 months and is still getting flamed and being told 6 months.

    I was not on yesterday. Our ped. said that the optimal time was closer to 6, but we are letting her fus a bit more. Probably with every child/parent, the age is a bit different.

    We are attempting to encourage her to work out her issues at night a bit more, but I sincerely HOPE that I am on an overnight trip when we decide to CIO for the first time.  I think that like her two month shots, I will let the h handle this one!

    The books say 4 months and there are a TON of people on here who have had success.  NO reason for flaming.  Get real people.  I tried it at 4 months and it was unsuccessful, but I am not sorry I tried.  Good luck.
