Hi girls... Wondering what opinions are regarding belly/tummy sleeping. Isabella has hard nights...and hates laying on her back. Of course, I'm totally paranoid about having her sleep on her tummy, but when she's napped that way during the day...OMG...she's so content and peaceful.
I know some of you have mentioned being fans of tummy sleeping and have commented about your LO napping/sleeping this way...
Just wanted to see what everyone's thoughts are....b/c I KNOW what my super paranoid pediatrician thinks...LOL
Re: Belly Sleeping
I am just glad they gave up the whole side sleeping thing they wanted everyone to do when Danielle was a baby! ?Those sleep positioners were a PITA.
Thankfully, Sarah really took to the whole swaddling concept, and now continues to sleep on her back unswaddled with no problems. ?DH called the swaddleme "magical" - LOL!?
I am a fan of belly sleeping and wish Elise would sleep that way more often. Here's what I think. Most of us probably slept on our belly and 99.999999999999999% of the time it is fine. They say back is best to reduce SIDS. However, no one really knows what causes SIDS, plus it is thought that many factors?contribute. Don't keep her room too warm and nothing in the crib besides your dd (no blankets, stuffed animals etc). If Elise slept on her belly all the time, I would probably remove her crib bumper. (Which I know you're "supposed" to do anyway... as you can tell, I'm not a paranoid person.)
Here's why I like belly sleeping- babies spent faaaaaar too much time on their backs IMO. Car seat, bouncer, swing, stroller, etc... ?because of this they don't gain good head control until later AND they're crawling at a much later time. Not to mention flat spots...?
If your dd can pick up her head and move it (Elise could do this from birth) that I say let the girl sleep on her tummy- especially if she'll sleep better!!!!!!!!?
