Am I a gluten for punishment? WWYD?

My Mom got us all tickets to Sesame Street Live in late May (DD loves Elmo!)  The show is at 2pm.  DD still takes 2 naps a day at this point.  #1 is around 9am and #2 is around 1:30pm.

I'm not sure what to do about that 2nd nap.  We'd need to leave our house around 1:30.  Try to move everything up earlier?  Try to put her down late for her morning nap and just drop the afternoon one?  I'm so scared of her becoming a monster at the show.

WWYD?

  • Maybe in a month she will be down to 1 nap a day. ?My DS just switched over to 1 this past month. ?Can she sleep in the car? Try keeping her schedule the same and if she sleeps in the car on the way there it should be fine. ?I think the show will be too exciting for her to get too monsterish :)

  • If she's a good car sleeper, I'd leave early for the show and drive around an extra 1/2-hour in the car so she'd get at least a little 2nd nap in before the show.
  • My DS still takes two naps too, but he has done fine with missing a nap on a one off basis, as long as it didn't become a habit, kwim?

I hope she enjoys the show! ?=)?

Ditto this - Zachary is usually fine missing a nap occasionally.

  • I'd say that since it's still almost 2 months away not to worry about it.  Chances are your DC will go down to 1 nap at that point.  Even if she doesn't, I don't know if it's the same for you, but I find as DD gets older she's getting a lot more flexible.  GL!

  • I'm sure she'll be fine without her second nap. She'll probably be too excited to even notice that she's tired!

DD is fine with skipping her nap occasionally, especially if there's something exciting to keep her awake. She's pretty flexible since I've never been a stickler for set nap times, so she'd probably crash in the car on the way home and still go to bed at her regular time.

DS is on the same schedule, and he naps for about 1.5-2 hours at each nap. However, once a week on Sundays he misses one nap because of church in the morning. We come home have lunch and he takes his afternoon nap all the same.

When he was younger we'd be able to get him to nap a little at church (we're there for 3 horus). Now he just refuses, and he does perfectly fine without it. He snoozes a little on the way home in the car so I think it must take the edge off enough to get him to the next. As long as he has enough to keep his interest and entertained (i.e playing with and watching the other kids in the nursery) he's fine.

I'm sure your DD will do great. It's likely if she's a good car napper she'll snooze a little on the way there and back. GL

Hello :) I never come here.

I think she will be fine. ?Anna skips her nap whenever we go to my parent's house because everything is too exciting, and she does just fine until bedtime. ??
