I see so many cute pics of baby girls with their hair in pig tails or whale spouts. Every time I try this with my DD her hand goes immediately to her head and she pulls the band out.
If you put your DD's hair up using a pony tail holder how do you get it to stay in? Is there a magic brand of band you use? Does your DD just not care that there's stuff in her hair? How does this work? TIA!
Re: XP: How do you get pigtails and whale spouts to stay put?
I think you have to stand on your head singing 'The Macarena' while making a pact with the devil to make them stay put.
I've heard that is the only way.

I am assuming the pony tail on the top of the head
Oh, duh. That makes sense.
I know you can buy special "no slip" clips and stuff. My dd doesn't have enough hair for stuff like that yet.
I usually will do her hair while she is in the highchair and put puffs or cups on her tray to distract her. I guess she is used to it by now...she has had something in her hair since 5 weeks!! I also have found if I dampen her hair just a little, it's easier to put the pig tails in. HTH!!
My niece pulls barrettes out but not the little rubberband type ponytail holders that make her whale spout.
I cannot wait until DD gets hair because she's getting a whale spout whether she likes it or not. lol
We use Scunci ponytail bands- they're very, very small, but very stretchy. The only place I've found them is CVS.
DD will leave them alone if she's playing or occupied. But the other day, I drove to the grocery store and she had pigtails. When we got there, DD only had one pigtail and looked like she was chewing gum. It was the other band. She likes to twirl her hair in the car, and I guess she thought I had left a snack up there for her to find. So now she only wears them if I'm supervising her the entire time.
