Swing and bouncy chair

We have the rainforest swing, and the precious planets bouncy chair.  Is DD too young to put in these yet?  I coudn't find anything in either of the manuals that says anything about age, etc.  Thanks.

  • Nope...you can use both.

  • i tried bouncer at about 10 days old but ds did not like it ... we tried the swing at about 2 weeks and he didnt like it either ...

how much does your baby weigh?  the manufacturer usually puts weight parameters on the items not age

  • Right now she weighs 7 lbs 4 oz
  • Our boy is bigger, but we've put him in both the swing and the bouncy.  In fact, we sit him in the bouncy a few times throughout the day (to keep him upright after feeds, read to him & make faces, etc.).

We've used the swing a lot less, but a couple of times he's enjoyed it!

  • We tried both at about 1 week or so.  DS loved his bouncy seat right away, and just within the last week or so has he started to enjoy his swing too.
  • Ds loved the swing right away, he didn't really like the bouncer till he was about two weeks old.
  • We have preemies so it might be different, but the developmental specialist at the hospital said the babies could sit in the bouncy, but not to turn it on vibrate until they were 10lbs.  She suggested not using the swing til they are a month old (right now they still count as negative 2 weeks).  She did say we could try the swing swinging side to side, but that a front to back movement is too much stimulation before 1 month.
