1st Trimester

When should I tell?

I'm at 4 weeks.  I don't have my first doctor's appointment for another 5 weeks :-(  But I really want to tell people.  I'm just afraid that when I go to the doctor's I'll find out it's gona wrong or it's ectopic....

Do I have to wait til I see the doc?  When should I tell?

My hubby is dying to tell him mom, too

Re: When should I tell?

  • Tell whenever you want to... thats completely up to you and your s/o

  • My god, tell when you want. Period.

  • Whenever you are comfortable doing so.
  • As pp mentioned, it's a completely personal decision. You don't have to wait for anything.

We told parents and best friends at about 4-6 weeks (depending), a few more people along the way, a much larger group this past weekend and will break the news to the "world" next week sometime when we're done with the NT Scan.

  • My personal rule has been to only tell those whom I would want to tell if something goes wrong.  I would want to tell my parents, sister, and closest friends, so I told them.  I would not want to have to "un-tell" certain people at work or my stepkids, so those folks don't know yet.  It's a very personal decision, and telling one person doesn't mean you have to tell everyone you know.  GL!
  • I told right away, but you may not want to. Some women wait until they start showing.
  • I agree with the others. It's totally up to you and your hubby when you are going to tell. My husband and I agreed to wait until the end of the first trimester - again our personal choice!! ;)

  • It is really up to you and there is no right or wrong answer.  My husband and I told our parents at about 5 weeks and a couple of close friends last week.  I am waiting on everyone else (especially work) until another couple of weeks.  Good luck and congrats!
  • I'm at 4 weeks as well and we told our parents, best friend and my very close friend at work. We're going to wait to tell everyone else after 12 weeks when the chance of miscarrage decreases. Like every posted already, it's a personal choice and there's no right or wrong answer. Good luck!
