Re: BM in bottle how much?

  • My 6 1/2 week old is 10 pounds and the LC today said for a 10 pound baby 3-4 ounces per feeding.  So, I guess she went buy weight not age.  Don't know if that helps you or not.

  • At 7 weeks we put 4 oz in DS's bottles. ?He didn't always finish at first but as he grew he started drinking more. ?At 6 months he is up to 6 oz.
  • My LO gets bottles of BM at night and has been taking 3oz bottles the last 2 nights.

  • Kellymom.com has a really good page on this.

It basically says that a baby's intake doesn't significantly increases btw months 1 and 6.  So pretty much what she taking in now is what she will be taking in at month 6.

My DD eats 5 times a day and the calculator estimates ranges of 4 to 6 ounces per bottle.  At daycare, we've figured out that she takes 6 oz for her first bottle, 4 oz for her second and anywhere between 4 to 6 oz for her third.  The estimator was right on for my DD.
