This is breaking my heart- give me courage!

I'm desparate for ds to go to sleep before eleven pm.  So at 7:30pm, I brushed his teeth, read him a story and at 7:45pm I put him in his crib.  He's been hysterical for the last 18 minutes.  I'm sitting in the room with him so he knows I'm here but I am keeping my back to him as I type so I don' t make eye contact.  His cries are deafening!  At least he hasn't puked yet which is what he always did in the past. 

How long do they usually cry before finally calming down?   I don't know who will break first- ds or me!

3 IUI's and 2 IVF's later- Brady arrived. Born at 36 weeks after PUPPS and pre-e/HELLP.
IUI- BFN IVF #1 -BFP! Allie is our 2nd IVF baby. Born at 36 1/2 weeks after pre-e again

    Stand strong!  You can do this, and eventually he will poop out.  Every few minutes, say to him, "mommy loves you and you are not alone" but DO NOT TOUCH OR PICK HIM UP. 

    Hang in there.  I did the same thing with #1 and it was tourture, but now she is a GREAT sleeper!  Goes straight to bed with no tears at all.

    oops- I just went to touch him at 24 minutes into this.  His nose was all runny so I just went to wipe it.  He grabbed me and wouldn't let go.  Now I see why I shouldn't touch him. 

    Ok- no more going to the crib.  I'll just say I love him and I'm here.

    For my DD, it made things worse when I stayed with her in her room. It was better for me to come and go every few minutes (sometimes less if she was really crying). Good luck! It's heartbreaking, I know!
