How old to let baby CIO?

I'm just curious how old a baby needs to be to CIO? DD screams, and screams unless I'm holding her. I can't get anything done that I need to. I hate listening to her scream, but sometimes I just need to put her down so I don't feel like I'm going to lose it! How much longer do I need to wait to let her CIO? TIA!

I've heard 4 months...but I'm not sure. ?I think that is when they start getting the ability to self-soothe.

Those early days are so tough aren't they!? As she gets bigger and a little more aware of the world she'll probably be content on her own for longer. If you feel like you're going to lose it then by all means set her down for a minute. She'll be fine.

Have you tried babywearing or anything like that? A sling or a moby might be a lifesaver

When baby is > 12 lbs or is 4 months old. We started doing CIO sleep training when DD was about 3.5 months old because she was already more than 12 lbs, and it worked really well. My DD likes to be carried/held all the time so I have all kinds of different carriers and wraps and slings to wear her in, and this helps me tremendously.

Have you considered wearing her in a sling or wrap? I bet she would go to sleep and you'd get a lot more done! Not that you NEED to be getting much done right now - Just take it easy and enjoy being with your baby Smile

I've never heard anything about weight and CIO, but I have heard that babies are better able to STTN once they hit 12/13 lbs.

Ditto the wrap/sling. I pretty much held DS constantly until he was 6 weeks old. I was going crazy. Now I can get him to nap in the Moby wrap (I just tuck him in there when he falls asleep) and I have both hands free & can get a few things done around the house.

Ditto all the folks who said to wear her - she's tiny and needs the comfort of her mommy. A sling or wrap will let you care for her and still be hands free.
