Wait for beta, or hpt?

I'm only on 3 dpo, so not ready for awhile anyway. My RE schedules betas two weeks from the trigger shot, which I took last Wednesday, and prob ovulated on Friday. I am an obsessive tester, usually starting around 8 dpo. I'm really considering just waiting for the beta, but then.... can I really wait that long? And, if it's negative, will I be okay with getting the results at work? What do you guys do?

Re: Wait for beta, or hpt?

  • I can never wait until beta day. I need to know on my own before I get that call and have to interact with someone. If it was a BFP I would be excited, but if it was  BFN I would be upset and not sure I want to hear that news from someone else. I usually start testing at 10dpiui (12 days after trigger).

  • I used to test at home but at one point got so sick of seeing so many negatives that I gave up and only have done betas since.  Even if I get a negative hpt the morning of my beta I will still be sad but hold out hope... at least if I wait no matter what the results are I am only dealing with them once.  Even if I get a negative at home I would still cry at work when they told me my beta results... I just stopped buying the tests so I couldn't use them.  I like it much better that way!  Actually...after I finally got a bfp with my daughter I went out and bought a test cause I just had to see what it was like to see the two lines!  ;)

  • I am a Beta waiter normally... although I broke my last cycle.  I love it b/c I can just have so much more peace of mind and it saves money.

BUT if you can't hold out I recomend going to the dollar store and buying like 8 tests.  Test every morning FMU so you can know when the trigger has said Adios, than you test till you get a BFP or the Hag Stick out tongue

  • I like to be somewhat prepared for my beta, so I usually test the day before or the morning of.
  • I would have to know.  I can not wait, I always say I am going to try and then I crack under the pressure.
