Babies: 9 - 12 Months

If you're a germaphob..(like me)

tell me your most excessive habits that define your germ obsession! LOL, I'll start..I wash and air dry all her pacis once a day AND then stick them in the germ guardian for a good sanitize.  That is just one of the many precautions I do to keep things clean around here..there is a long list!  Idc who thinks I'm crazy, I do it for the best interest of DD and am not embarrassed!

Oh and I hate when people talk about how some germs are good for the immune system and stuff..there are PLENTY of germs that can't be avoided on a daily basis that babies are susceptible to.

    same here.

I am obsessed with cleaning all of the toys he gets. Clorox Anywhere Hard Surface cleaner is my best friend! I think it is so gross that ppl can play with the toys in the store. Then DS gets them and they go right in his mouth! The one day I bought him the shake and giggle elmo and DH said, "now how are you going to clean that!?" I said, well, I cleaned the eyes b/c they are plastic, but unfortunately it can't go in the washer, so i guess I just have to live with the fact that I can't clean it!

  • I guess I'm an anti-germaphobe.  I never freak out about her paci hitting the ground or how clean her toys are.  She's only been sick twice, and she's about to be a year old.  Everything seems a-okay to me. :)
  • I thought I was pretty germaphobic. ?I wash my hands constantly, to the point that this winter they cracked and bled, and Ian gets a clean ninny every day (more often if one falls on the floor) and I run all the dirty ones through the dishwasher. ?However, today he spit his ninny out in the parking lot at the grocery store and I didn't have an extra. . .so I wiped it off on my shirt, stuck it in my own mouth to clean it off and gave it back to him. ?I still can't believe I did that!

  • Yay! I love finding people like me. :) Hmm, let's see. If another child grabs one of her toys it goes in a plastic bag until I get home to clean/sanitize it. I also own the nursery sanitizer and use it ALL the time. My friends make fun of me, but guess what -- DD has never been sicker than a mild cold. I have friends whose children have had EVERYTHING. I guess it pays to be a germaphobe. :)
  • Hmmmmm I disinfect my bathroom 5x a day. I scrub my baseboards with bleach & water 1x a week. I disinfect dd's toys every other day. I vacuum all my floors (all hard) & upholstery at least 1x a day to make sure there are no dust mites. I wipe my door knobs, light switches & cabinet/drawer knobs 2x a days with lysol wipes.?

I'm insane with my ocd. ?

  • I won't touch a restaurant salt without something covering my hand (like a napkin). Once I've used that napkin, I won't use the side that touched the salt, I'll fold it in half (covering the contaminated side) and use the other side.?

I study what people touch and if they touch me, I know where their hand has been. I can remember where they have touched me and consider that area contaminated.

I have my own towel at home I use to dry my hands.

Germaphobia sucks. So does OCD. It's not funny, and it's not a joke. It's a legitimate fear. I'm glad to see other people know what it's like. ?
