to have this baby! DH is convinced she is going to be here at 38 w 2 d (I have no idea where he got that from!), so he put together the bouncer and all that stuff yesterday. He had a blast once he put the batteries in because he was so excited about what it all did (he obviously was a deprived child!). I hit up Target for some last minute stuff we needed and I officially feel like we have everything ready to go for Audrey!
My parents are driving down (yes, from RI). They are leaving 4/17 (my bday!) and making a trip of it by hitting up dc, ashville, mephis, dallas on the way. They are afraid I'm going to go into labor when dh is on call so they want to be here.
I know this has been asked already, but what did you all really need in the hospital? I figure I'll pack a towel for me, a brush, toothbrush and toothpaste, hair ties, face wash, a pair of comfy pjs just in case and a comfy cotton pull over dress for going home. Plus the camera and my STD paperwork.
For her I was just going to bring an outfit to go home, a burp cloth, and a blanket. I figured we should get some diapers and other goodies from the hospital.
Re: Okay, I think I'm ready
Omg, she's going to be here before you know it! You sound good & ready to me!
Honestly, you don't need much. And the last thing you are going to want to do when you get home from the hosp. is unpack a bunch of crap you didn't use.?
I think everything you listed is perfect and I can't really think of anything else. Oh, I was glad to have my boppy for nursing... I suppose you could use a pillow, but for me, I liked having the boppy. I didn't need a towel, the hospital ones were fine. Dh brought comfy pants to lounge in while I was in labor. And a blanket & pillow... nothing was provided for him.
So excited!!! I can't wait for Elise and Audrey to get to know each other!?
I'm ready for you to have Audrey too!!
I didn't take a shower. Didn't really want to use their shower anyway, plus I was pretty sore and didn't want to walk around much. You'll definately want your toothbrush/toothpaste and face wash. Leave make-up at home, you won't want to put it on.
Yes, you'll get a lot of stuff from the hospital.
BTW, are you planning anything fun for your b-day??
Yeah, I don't think I'll take a shower either, but i figured I'd take the towel to at least use to wash my face. I hate the smell of hospital laundry (yes, I'm weird!). I did buy a nursing bra today. I hope Wilford Hall gives you free stuff, I've heard mixed things.
Nothing planned for the bday at this point, DH is on call the next day so I'm thinking maybe just dinner somewhere? How's baby James?
I was at the hospital a lot longer than expected....but still did not use that much.
I did shower...and was very thankful that my DH brought towels. I also was really glad to have my favorite pillows and blanket from home. I did NOT bring makeup (even though I was there a week!), lounged in yoga pants and t shirts and nursing tanks. Slippers and socks were a must. Tooth brush, toothpaste for sure.
For the baby, I brought 2 outfits and only put on one. We never even got to take her nursery pics b/c she was in the NICU...but my intention was to take pics in 2 outfits....I also brought a couple burp cloths and a blanket or two. The hospital provided everything else and more for her, so there was no need for anything else from me.
Seriously, everything else, the hospital will give you. Pads, those funky mesh panties, diapers for yoru LO and all you need...even samples of nipple cream. I used the hospital pump while I was there and was glad not to be messing with mine at all.
How exciting for you!! Hope you enjoy yuour last few weeks...and are anxiously awaiting your little girl's arrival!
2 hours after having Carter I was up and wanting a shower, but apparently I am the exception and not the rule. The nurses were impressed that I was dressed in yoga pants, flip flops, and a nursing tank walking as soon as the epi wore off.
I personally really wanted my own toileteries and make up. A set of DVDs (I brought Friends), comfy clothes and a comfy outfit to take your LO home in is about all you need.
