So DH and I discuss names often and we agreed a long time ago that we like A names anywho we decided on a girls name awhile ago but cant agree on a boys name here are his boys picks:
alec
anderson
aric
august
ari
?
What do you ladies think? ?I honestly do not love any of them. ?My choices for a boy would be Aaron or Austin.?
Re: DH name picks
I am partial to Austin. DS is William Austin but goes by Austin. DH's top name this time was Aaron but I argued that it was too matchy and won. Nice name though.
Of your DH's choices, I like Alec I guess. I like Alex more.
Your choices are much better.

?
Thanks I think so too!!!?
I like Aaron the best or Alex/Alexander.
Aric is dooming the child for a lifetime of 'Hi, my name is Aric'. "Nice to meet you Eric". 'No, it is atually Aric'. "Aric?? How do you spell that?"
Alec is not my favorite choice due to the expression 'don't be a smart-alec'.
I had a great-uncle August who was odd. I can't get past the association.
Anderson is a last name.
Ari is just NMS. Sounds girly.
I like Alec and I could live with Anderson.
"Aric" is ridiculous. If you don't want to use an E name, then Eric is off the table.
I like Alec and August out of your DH's names. Your baby would have to spell out Aric his entire life if you named him that.
I like your choices, too.
alec ... he will get called Alex most of his life. I have a student named Alec and I have to try really hard to say Alec instead of Alex
anderson ... it's ok, but to much of a last name....also sounds too preppy. I would think that it would get shortened to Andy
aric ... he will have to spell his name to everyone. I also don't care for this name because I have a student named Aric that is a pompus arse.
august ... seriously, unless there is some family significance here, don't do it.
ari ... I see this as a girls name because I work with a woman named Ari. I think it's a pretty girls name though.
What is your girl's name by the way?
Honestly, I'm not a big fan of your DH's picks either. I like Alex over Alec, and Aric just looks strange. I agree with pp that he will constantly be telling people that it's not Eric.
I like both of your choices.

alec: nms, prefer Alex/Alexander.
anderson: A bit mystified at how often this name seems to be mentioned here - to me, it falls into that category (and it's an increasingly large category) of "great, assuming it's a family name, otherwise it sounds a tad random and lacking in deeper resonance" (is that just me?)
aric: I get that the preference towards A names, but this isn't technically an A name - nms at all.
august: Although I realize it's not Augusta, it still seems a bit more firmly entrenched in girl name territory.
ari: Ok, but nms.
Honestly, my two favorites by far are your picks - like Aaron & especially Austin.
