and I said UH...YES!
He doesn't like that my car doesn't have anti-lock brakes and we realized that stroller and other stuff doesn't fit into our little cars. He thinks we should be able to pull it off financially easily if we trade in my Honda Civic.
Cars we are considering:
Saturn Vue
Suburu Forrester
Mitsubishi Outlander
Anyone have any of these and can give any input?
We're looking for safety, price, mileage, and storage space.
Re: DH asked me if I would be interested in a new car..
I've heard good things about the Subaru, but I have no first-hand knowledge on any of them.
I hope you're considering buying a used car, there have got to be some really great deals out there. In 2007 we bought a 2005 Audi with only 6,000 miles on it for WAY less than the price of a new one. And with only 6,000 miles it was practically new. Plus, when we drove it off the lot we didn't immediately lose tons of value.
My mom has an 02 Forrester and loves it. We borrowed it for awhile back in 2005 when my dh was recovering from a car accident and couldn't fit into my car. They are nice and you can fit a lot into the back. If you are looking at a new one I know they have redesigned them so I wouldn't be able to comment on that, but I know they are good cars.
AWESOME! I'm getting my new one tomorrow-it's sooo exciting! We are getting the Scion XB... wanted something a little bigger but that still got good gas milage.
I know that the Subaru and the Vue are both AWD which is DEFINITELY good if you live somewhere w/ snow. I didn't check before posting, sorry! I think you'll have no prob's trading in the civic either, those are good cars.
GL!
We just purchased a Volvo xc90.
Love it! Lots of room for storage and you can't get any safer - plus 4wd is standard on all of them
I have a Dodge Caliber. I LOVE IT!!!
1. It has plenty of cargo room for a stroller.
2. It has stain resistant seats!
3. You can get one brand new for under $20K (I bought my 2007 in Sept of 2006 and got it out the door for under $17K).
4. In the glove compartment it has a cooler that will keep 4 20oz bottles at 40degrees....great for bottles on long road trips.
5. It was rated on of the top family cars in 2008.
Same here -- my lease ran out at the end of December and we ended up getting a minivan to replace it, but as soon as DH finds a new job, we're trading in our Malibu for another Caliber -- I can't say enough good things about it!
We test drove Vue's this weekend. I am super Saturn loyal, and it didn't dissapoint me. If you get a used Vue (we're looking at 2006/2007's) make sure you get a V6 with the Honda engine (as opposed to the GM engine) and that it doesn't have the CVT.
