I just got back from a few hours of running errands with my typically good, calm, quiet baby. Yeah, today was pretty disastrous. I spent my trip at Target pushing the stroller with one hand, and holding Holly in the other. She was just fussy, fussy, fussy.. I realized that she was getting hot and sweaty in the carseat (we have a snap-n-go frame, so I usually don't ever remove her from it), and it was pissing her off. That, and I guess she's not a tiny newborn anymore, and doing things with her are just going to be more challenging, since she doesn't sleep through everything anymore.
How did you handle your DC getting hot in their seat like that? Any tips? I ran the AC in the car, and the stores weren't especially hot. But she was still all sweaty on the back of her head. I put a cotton burp cloth behind her head, and that seemed to help a little. I have a feeling it is going to be a long, long summer, considering its only April and only in the 70s.
Re: Getting hot in the carseat
I went through this yesterday. I swear she was SO hot all day, I was sure she had a fever, I took her temp 4 times (I was paranoid because it was normal). Also, do you find Holly sweats in the leg area, where its buckles? I wasn't sure if what I felt was pee or sweat. I have no idea how to keep them cool, especially with 100 degree weather?
I came home and stripped her down, then put a short sleave onesie with no pants on. I see fun times ahead this summer. Booo.
As inconvenient as this can be (b/c I loved my snap-n-go!), this really does help them stay cooler. I also put J in the Bjorn a lot just to give him a break from sitting in that same position all the time.?
BabyHill was born at the end of July so I feel your pain. We ended up putting him in the big boy carseat when he was 5 months old. He is seriously hot natured - like me. I made sure to not overdress him. And keep the air running all the time - keep a back vent pointed as best I could at him (since he was backwards).
She's probably at that age where looking around is much more cool than just sitting there. She probably wants to do more than she can. It's a phase. Just keep trying anything you can.
