Question for those who have had c-sections...

I've enjoyed reading all of the c-section stories since we are scheduled for a planned c-section on June 3.  My question is, was your DH allowed to bring a camera into the OR?  I don't want any pictures of the actual surgery but I have seen pics of the Mom, Dad and Baby right after the surgery, and I would like to get one of those if possible.  Did you get to see baby up close before they took him/her to the nursery?

Thanks!!

  • Yes, he was allowed to bring it in. The nurses actually took the pics for him so he was in them. I didnt get to see her at all because I was drugged up pretty heavily due to pre-e.

  •  I had an unpalnned c-section with DS. We were able to have a camer/ video camera in with us a shoot whatever we wanted. After DS was delivered they held him up for a sec and then took him to the warmer to get cleaned up. A few minutes later they handed him to dad who held him by my face while they were stiching me up. We all went to the recovery area for about an hour and I tried to breastfeed. After that I went to a post partum room and DS went to the nursery for an hour.

  • I have read a lot of hospitals do not allow video cameras, some don't even allow a regular camera either...for liability reasons in case doctor messes up (I know, not something you want to think about).  I would ask your doctor or hospital.  I have also heard that some allow you to bring a camera in, but tell you when you can start taking pictures.
