Wow...Dr. Ferber Gave Us ALL The Gift of Sleep!

On the recommendation of DS's pedi, we bought Ferber's book and used his method last night. We were desperate and hadn't slept in weeks. DS was waking for up to 3 hour stretches and not calmed or soothed by anything we would do (wouldn't go back to sleep, wanted to cry sometimes and play others). DH and I were upset and at each other constantly. Honestly, I was so scared to use Ferber. We did it last night and it was SUCH a better night! The crying was so minimal that it was less than before! And DS slept from 8:30pm-6:45am with only 2 brief wakings and finally woke up happy this morning!! I know it is controversial and not for everyone...but for anyone who doesn't know where else to turn b/c they have tried it all....it sucks to do, but we are the happiest family we have been in months!

DS is 4 months. Just had his 4 month appt. We made sure he was healthy and getting plenty to eat before doing it. We also still kept a nighttime feeding and are trying to wean him from that over a week or so (it's 4 oz. and he really doesn't need it according to pedi).
I bought the book and recommend doing so for your peace of mind. It has a lot of info. about why it works and isn't harmful to your baby, if you are worried. As well as a section abut naps, what to do if it doesn't work, etc. It rarely doesn't work if used properly.
