Help me w/ protein snacks:

I generally like hard boiled eggs but right now I don?t. I like cheese and I sometimes have a cheese stick or cheese and crackers. I like peanut butter and crackers. I have no desire to chomp up chicken pieces, LOL. I may try some shakes. I know some people like the Ensure ones. Any other recommendations?

  • I had a really hard time with food aversions in the first 17 weeks too. I bought Chocolate and Vanilla protein powder and made shakes with milk. I still make 1 or 2 a day depending on how my meals are going. I got a big bag of frozen fruit at costco and I blend that with milk and vanilla powder for a more filling fruit shake.

    I found the South Beach Diet microwave pepperoni pizzas have 31 grams of protein, which would sometimes work out perfect when nothing else sounded good.

    Yogurt

    Cottage Cheese

    Carrots or Apples with Peanut Butter

    It will get easier once you are feeling better!

  • In the first trimester with food aversion I'd just try to eat whatever sounds good and not worry as much about what it is.  I lost weight because I was so sick but if I felt like a milk shake I'd have one.  Later on once I was less sick I started focusing on protein shakes and other good healthy snacks.  Good luck!

  • Here are some ideas that work for me: string cheese greek yogurt (14g protein per cup) - in the organic section of grocery store Chocolate milk (I drink about 2 gallons per week - yum!!) Protein Bars - I like the "chocolate mint" flavor Minestrone, lentil, or black bean soup I also like tofu stir fry Edamame is delicious at chinese/japanese restaurants Hamburger Helper meals with ground turkey breast Good luck!
  • Peanut butter on an apple 

    Cottage cheese and peaches or applesauce

    Protien shakes-I prefer muscle milk the vanilla flavor is my favorite and they make it in light with less fat/calories. I get it at Target.

  • I had atkins shake and bars to add in some protein.  People would usually look at me funny shopping the "diet" aisle, but whatever - the chocolate shakes are amazing :)
