  we started with a bunch of recommendations from our Midwife and then narrowed it down by the offices that took both my insurance (which the baby will be on for his first 30 days) and then my husbands insurance (which the baby will be on after the first 30 days), then we asked around to find the peds that have the same breatfeeding/vaccination philosophy as us. We just interviewed our ped this past Tuesday and it went really well!

  You could place a post asking for recommendations at your local bump board.  Or set up interviews with a few pediatricians in your area to help decide who to choose.  There's some advise on the bump and other websites for questions to ask them.

  We asked for recommendation from my doctor and then checked it against who was covered by our insurance.  The list to choose from was not very long because there are not too many that are taking new patients at this time.  Good Luck!

  Our baby will actually see the same pediatrician that both DH and I saw. He is in a very large pediatric practice so when he fully retires in a few more years we will just switch to one of the other docs in the practice. However had I not had a personal connection to ours, my OB's office had a list of docs to choose from in our area.

  our midwife gave us a list of "birth center friendly" pediatricians in our area. we narrowed it down off of that list, and found one that we really love that shares our same views of medicine...
