Anyone have a Peanut Shell sling?

I am looking for something to use around the house for DS and the Peanut Shell looks really simple and quick. DS is almost 11 lbs already. I like the Moby (I know others have this one) but it looks too complicated for me to throw on quickly. Advice? TIA

Re: Anyone have a Peanut Shell sling?

  • I have both.  Peanut shell is great for quick and easy around the house.  I LOVE my moby for longer use.  It's great to walk around in and LO loves it too.  Moby isn't as quick to put on, but I prefer it as far as comfort.

  • I have it, but DS doesn't really like it...I think it's because I bought it too big (I bought it when pregnant).  If there's a place where you can go try it with DS, I'd suggest that.  Or, have you considered a Baby Bjorn?

DH has a carrier that we use for long walks/shopping etc, kind of like a Bjorn....I just need something around the house when he refuses to let me put him down.....he just doesn't understand that mommy has to eat/pee/move too!

  • You can also try the maya wrap.  It is the ring sling that is pretty easy to use, but more expensive than a peanut shell.  DS didn't really like it.  He was fine is he slept in it, but doesn't really like being awake in it.  I am not a bjorn fan, they hurt my back.  but every mom and baby is different.
  • how about a baby k'tan?  it's like the moby but already put together so to speak, so you just put the loops around you, no wrapping needed.  ncbelle suggested it to me for a quick version of the moby and i love it.  i have also heard good things about the slinglings.

  • Or you could try a mei tai, you still have to try it but no wraping. I used it with DD and i bought another this time around for DS. I love it and its really comfortable.
