Babies on the Brain

Just ate a whole pint of blackberries

And now my tongue and teeth are stained.  Sexay.

Not a great start to my effort to lower carb intake, either.

Re: Just ate a whole pint of blackberries

  • Mmmmm, I love blackberries.  I wouldn't have been able to control myself either if they were perfectly ripe!!

  • Just go with the fact that black berries are a 'calorie burning food' or something!!  At least you didn't drown them in condensed milk or anything!  ...or did you?

LOL, no, ate them straight out of the carton.  They're delicious enough without extra stuff.
  • fruit = healthy right? That'd be my motto lol.

You'd think, but everything I've read about cutting carbs means cutting down on fruit!  And no fruit = the SUCK.
  • Berries are the best thing to turn to when you hit a plateau in your diet...  Just pretend you're at an "I just started cutting carbs" plateau!

And about the stained teeth, I feel your pain.  I can't drink one glass of red wine without my lips and teeth turning colors. :o(

Are you strictly cutting carbs out to lose weight? Or are there other reasons behind it?

  • My RE said that with my family hx of diabetes and my tendency towards hypoglycemia, cutting carbs would make the metformin work even better.  So that's really the only goal I have.  Weight loss would be great, but I think that a low-carb "diet" just for weight loss doesn't make sense for me since I couldn't keep it up for just that reason.

Oh okay, that makes sense. Well, if you'd like, I read a book called The Eat Clean Diet by Tosca Reno (it's not really a diet, more of a lifestyle change...but she explains that). It really helped me and my husband out a lot. His blood pressure was getting high (at 25!) and I was 30+ pounds overweight. It's not exactly "low carb", but could definitely be easily modified to fit your needs.

  • Thanks!  I'll have to check it out on Amazon or see if my library has it...

Anything that might help, I'm willing to give a try.

  • OH you'll have to let us know if your pee turns purple/blue/green.

MMM that sounds soo good right now... nom nom nom
