Test thoughts??

 took two at home pregnancy tests.  The first was the wal mart brand "ept" test.  I looked at it after 2 minutes and it was negative, I walked back in the room about 5 minutes later and it was positive.  This is a few days before my missed period.  So then I run out to the store and get a rite aid (5 days sooner) test and took it home.  The line was very faint, but it was a faint positive.  I was soooooooo excited.  I called my doctor's office and they told me to come by today for a test there.  I went to the office and their urine test said negative.  They proceeded to do a blood test, but I won't know the results for a week.  The nurse was optimistic and said, it has happened before.  The lab tech was not, and said false positives happen at home all the time.  

Thoughts?

    Different tests test varying levels of HCG.  I got my blood results back within 24 hours, so you can always phone back and ask tomorrow.

    False negatives are much more common than false positives. Perhaps your urine test was too diluted to show up!

    I don't want to burst any bubbles... but I was always told that if it didn't show positive in the first 2 minutes or so that it's most like a false positive or an evaporation line. How long did you wait when you saw the faint line on the 2nd test?

    False positive are pretty rare. Most likely if you saw a faint line, you're pregnant.  Congrats, and GL!

    Oh thats a long wait I would test again first thing in the morning to see what you get and call them and see if they have any results. Good luck!

    call the doc tomorrow and see if they have the blood work done (no way should it take that long unless they have to ship it to a lab). and if you want to, take another test in a couple of days, can't hurt anything. just be sure to read the results when the directions say to, then throw it away, the results are not right if you wait too long. and false positives do not happen too often, so GL!

    Thanks.  They told me they would call me with my results in about a week.  So I guess I will wait a week to hear from them.

    Hmm.  Well the first test I did wait about 10 minutes.  I looked after two minutes and it said negative, I walked out of the room and checked my email.  When I walked back in it said positive.

     The second test was after 2 minutes (faint line). 

     I guess time will tell.

    Thats odd that you wont have the blood tests back within a week. When I had mine done it was back within hours. weird.

    The doctor's office urine pregnancy tests are usually require a relatively high hcg concentration than the early home tests. ?I too got a very light line on the equate (wal-mart) brand tests this morning (after the time limit but within 15 mins) I plan to keep testing until AF shows or a better postive shows. ?I bet you'll know your answer before the blood test comes back. ?I think it sounds promising for you though...
