2nd Trimester

Hello Everyone!

Hello all! I am new to this whole thing and I have a question. How many ultra sounds have you had?? I have only had two, my initial 8 week U/S and the big U/S at 20 weeks. Is it wrong for me to request another one? I am very happy and thankful that my baby is healthy, but it is so much fun looking at him move around and be happy.

THANKS!

Re: Hello Everyone!

  • We will have our first U/S tomorrow, and unless there are complications it will most likely be the only one we get. Every OB is different. You also might want to check with you insurance because they don't always cover additional U/S...could get a little spendy for ya!

  • It depends on your doctor and you ins. coverage. Ask your doctor/ins what their policy is. You can always pay for a 3D.

So far I have had 3. I don't think I will be getting any further u/s's.

  • I think I only get 2.  One at 12 weeks and one at 20.

  • Hello and welcome to the The Bump!   I?ve had a total of 4 ultrasounds. For the first 12-weeks it was normal to have a transvaginal ultrasound at every visit to see how the baby is developing as well as your uterus. I know I?m do for one more around 30 weeks.     I?m sure many practices? are different when it comes to this.
  • I have only had one u/s....the "big" one at 19 weeks. Other than that, my doc says she won't do another one unless there is cause for concern. So, i don't get to see the little guy again until he decides to make his debut :(
  • We 2 U/S so far. 1 @ our 1st visit then our big U/S this past Monday.  The pictures she said weren't that great because he was face down and usually the Doc likes the baby to be face up, so we might have to go back for more pictures.  Other than that we won't be seeing him for a few more months.
  • I've had 3 so far.  We go for the big one in two weeks though....I know it's going to be spendy, but it makes me feel better knowing everythings going ok in there.  The baby (avocado) is so small I can't feel it so it's hard to "feel" pregnant sometimes...besides the weight gain, ginormous boobs, etc now that all the icky 1rst trimester stuff has seemed to go away for me.
  • I have had three so far, and my "big" ultrasound is in 4 weeks.  My doctor is said to be "ultrasound happy" - so I can't complain.  She also said since the placenta is right in front, it will take longer to feel the baby kicking so she will keep doing them every time I go in to 'ease my mind'.
