Amelia has always been a swing napper. From the moment we first put her in one she fell asleep in it instantly. Paul naps in his crib. No big deal, they nap in separate rooms, she's in the swing. Everyone sleeps. I'm happy.
Except that she's getting too big and heavy for the swing... YIKES! She's 17 pounds now so technically she still fits, but the poor swing creaks and moans and barely moves when we turn it on (it was second hand so not great to begin with) and I'm worried that one of these days it's just going to stop swinging.
Any ideas? Do you think I need to try to start putting her in the crib for naps? I've tried and she just doesn't go to sleep. I don't know what to do!
Re: ** sweater ** (or other moms of swing nappers)
Okay, I am so embarrassed to admit this but E is still napping in his swing.
He sleeps fine in his crib at night and S takes all of his naps and sleeps at night in his crib no problem, but E still is in the swing, and he is 22lbs!!
The swing still swings, and I think we just need to bite the bullet and put him in his crib and see how it goes, but I am just too nervous.
What great timing for your question!
I bit the bullet yesterday (my twins are both about 17 lbs) and tried getting them to take their afternoon nap in their crib. They both played in there for quite a while and Ryan finally crashed and took a GREAT nap! Audrey got cranky and I really needed her to sleep so I broke down and brought her to her swing. She was fast asleep in 30 seconds.
I'm going to keep trying every day to get them both to take their long nap in the crib. I don't know what I will do if Audrey won't sleep in there for naps though so I'm anxiously watching for other responses!
Brady is about 17lbs and the swing is still holding up good, but I'd say around 20lbs, it will be tough.
I loooove how good they nap in their swings, I don't want to even think about not having them. For me...I can't be upstairs dealing with brady napping in his crib, while Jax is downstairs puking in his swing...so for me personally it's a survival thing since one baby has special needs. It's much easier for me to have them on the first floor with me.
?sooo I guess I'm dreading the thought of it
?
My daughter napped in her swing for the longest time. One day I just decided that she needed to start napping in her crib (since she would ONLY nap if we were home because she HAD to be in the swing). I just put her in her crib. I'm not going to lie, she cried for about 10 minutes for 3 days (I just let her cry), but after the 3 days she was fine. I don't know how you feel about letting your babies cry, but I had a crier, so it really wasn't that much of a big deal to me..lol. Plus, she wasn't hysterical, just crying.
Anyway, that's what we did. It's tough, and I hope you're able to break him of the swing napping soon and easily (although there's nothing wrong with it, so don't feel bad!)
