2nd Trimester

I am sooo sick of trying to find something to wear!!

Okay here it goes. I am only 10 weeks, but all of my regular clothes hurt my belly if I try to button them up. I got a belly band and it sucks. It falls down all of the time and feels nasty.

Anyways, I have tired to look for maternity clothes. I just need something with an elastic waist band, but nothing fits. I know I'm not really big enough for maternity clothes yet but I don't think they are ever going to fit. I am 5'2' and 97 lbs. I usually shop in the juniors section and buy a size 0 or 1. The small maternity clothes are equivalent to a womens size 4-6.

Any ideas??? I am thinking maybe I will just go to the mall and buy a couple pair of pants/shorts in a size or two bigger than what I normally get to fit around my belly. Has any one else had this problem? What did you do?

  • Sounds like you need a smaller bella band. If you can't stand the bella band, try going up a size in regular pants.

  • I am not a small size pre-preg (at my best I am an 8), but I had the same problem with my first.  I wore regular pants in one size larger for the second trimester, and two sizes larger for the third tri.  You may want to ionvest in some maternity tops (I know gap has XS maternity).  Good luck!

  • Ditto. I bought pants a size or two bigger than usual and use a bella band to keep them up (or a belt). The maternity clothes didn't fit and my regular clothes were very uncomfortable.
  • Oh man, I feel your pain. I tried the preggo pants and felt very not myself. So I resorted to a pair of pants a size up. Also, if you have a pair that you really like and you can do the rubber band trick, try that, but obviously you may not be able to pull it off all throughout the pregnancy. As I got a bigger, the pants really weren't working anymore so I went with dresses (sometimes with leggings) and that was a lot more comfy. I am waiting for the warmer weather and I am going to rock the sundress and flip flops:) Good luck and hang in there. It is just a weird stage in the pregnancy but will get better.
  • I am 20 weeks along and STILL having this problem, I am 4'10 and 82lbs.... Good Luck...let me know if you find anything....

  • Old Navy has some drawstring pants right now.  I got them in a size bigger than I normally wear.  They are super comfy.  The thing that sucks about them, though, is that they have a zipper and a button.  But I figured I can leave them unbuttoned and just tie the string and I'll be okay once I get a little bigger.  But they feel like you are wearing pajama pants - nice.

Also - this is a little tacky - but I found some black yoga (or maybe more lounging) pants that aren't too obvious that they are yoga pants (at Old Navy) - and I've been wearing them to work.  No one has called me out on it.  They have an elastic band and are really baggy in the legs.

  • I went through the same thing I ended up buying some pants with elatic waist bands (not jeans) something more comfy but not quite maternity. I was stuck in between for a couple of weeks. I also used the belly band thing...I hated it but had not much of a choice. I didn't want to buy pants a size bigger that I would never wear again!
