Rubber duckie. Kind of generic, but it's easy to find stuff for it especially with easter stuff out. I had a duckie shower and they floated a momma duck with 2 babies in the punch bowl that was really cute.
my friend got monkey bedding so we asked her if we could do a monkey-themed shower. it's not SUPERTHEMED or anything, but a few things here and there to distinguish it from the other zillion showers we are going to this year. theme or no theme, either way is great!
mine is themed around "june bugs" because I'm due in june... it's not super theme-y from what I've seen, but the invites have bugs, it's mentioned in the wording, I think there may be critters on the cake, and possibly the favors. that's it. no theme games or decorations or directed gift giving.
I think it made the planning easier on the people throwing my shower, really.
For my shower that is in June the guests are decorating bibs & onesies & when they are done hanging them up on a clothesline, this led to a clothesline theme with pastel colors.
For the 2nd shower in July we are not having a theme, just pink & blue decor.

Not exactly a theme, but I believe my family plans on asking for 1st books for the baby. I had been extremely jealous... my sister's friend had an Alice in Wonderland themed party with tea and cookies that said "eat me" ... the whole deal.
I was Alice in Wonderland for halloween last year and made my own little "eat me" and "drink me's". I like that garden/tea type theme. Mine is either gonna be "she's about to pop" or maybe go a little more movie "themey" like So and So productions presents a bridal shower starring me. You get the idea. Nothing extremely overboard as the shower will be at a restaurant. My favors are little plastic popcorn tubs and they'll each have a package of twizzlers, a bag of popcorn and a candy bar in them.
I just threw my sister in law a shower and had the same problem! Everyone was focusing on a theme and I was struggling with it. I finally found this site, yourcompleteparty.com that had a bunch of different themes and then ideas to go with each one. It might help you get an idea of some of the themes that are out there. My sister in law is having a boy so we did a baby block shower and had all these blue blocks and it turned out super cute. I was so happy that I was able to finally find a cute theme...lol...but definitely go there, there's lots of things to see for neutral or either gender! Good Luck!
