Hi, my name is Julie. I'm 38 and my dh is 39. This is my second marriage and we are ttcing no 1 for both of us. I have a son adopted during my prior life, who is the light of my life, but I strongly desire to have a child with my husband and to experience pg.
My prior life was MFI (him) and unexplained (me). We tried multiple IUI's, and donor sperm with never a BFP. We stopped short of IVF and moved to international adoption.
Recent testing reveals normal FSH (5.4), HSG (tubes open) and good SA, but I do have a small fibroid which RE will investigate this month. IUI #1 in my new life, which was March 17, was a failure and just waiting on AF to move to next cycle. We know we need medical intervention based on my past history as well as the fact that dh suffers from delayed ejaculation (which means no ejaculation). The RE has suggested two more IUIs and then onto IVF. We will see how that plan plays out.
I'm torn between IVF (BFN or BFP and miscarriage) or international adoption again (certainty of a placement but with potential attachment issues, no pg and no bio child).
I look forward to making new friends as we support each other on what I have learned over the course of approx. 10 years, can be a most difficult journey.
Greetings to all :-)
Re: I'm new here too.... (adoption/child ment)
Congrats on your son! I personally think people who adopt are heaven sent!
Welcome it's nice to meet you! Good luck!
Hi Julie,
Welcome. I hope you are able to make your decision, it must be lots to think about.
Glad to "meet" you and the very best of luck!
Welcome!
I don't have any experience of adoption, and I suspect there are reasons why people don't pursue both, but is there any possibility to begin both avenues and see how things unfold?
I hope your stay here is short, and that you wind up either pregnant or bringing home your child fast!
Welcome and good luck to you. ?What a big decision to face! ?I have certainly considered going straight to adoption rather than risking a failed IVF or miscarriage. ?I don't know how we will afford to do anything else if this doesn't work out! ?
Your test results seem to indicate that a biological child could be in your future!?
Hi, Julie, and Welcome.
You are weighing some big, big decisions. I hope that you end up with either a BFP or a second adopted child on his/her way to you soon.
I think that as you continue on the IUI path, you'll figure out what to do. Either you'll get pg (I hope!) or you'll know whether you want to go to IVF, or straight to adoption.
This board is what keeps me sane. You'll like it here.
