Do you believe this attitude???

Look at what I found posted on another website:

" A woman's place is at home with her children. Why would you have someone else raise your children when God chose you to do it? Majority of the women that work in this country work, not out of true necessity, but out of greed. (I know...most of you are appalled that I would say such a thing...you are the ones that should take a long, hard look on your circumstances.) "

It amazes me that people still have such a horribly judgemental view.

    I think a lot of people have this attitude, and honestly it doesn't bother me. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and to live their life the way they think is best. Make your own decisions and don't let other people bother you.

    My mother in law would agree with this statement.  She think that women's lib is the abomination - that this is what screwed up the "family dynamic".

    Yes everyone is entitled to their own opinion.  However, when you make a blanket statement such as this without knowing the situation of the individual then I think it's judgemental.

    Getting back to my mother in law - her DH spends a lot of his money on booze with his friends.  He's about 65 years old.

    Since Billy is an IUI baby doesn't bother me - being that "God" didn't give him to me anyway! Stick out tongue LOL  Life is too short to worry about what others think - you make the choice about what is best for your family and move on.

    Hmmm...I think we lost a nestie to that website.  Anyone remember the 1950's post on the SAHM board from a long time ago ?   :-)

    Anyway, I feel sorry for women (and men) who feel that way.  If greed is to work so I can give my children what I consider a better life then I am guilty as charged. DS is happy at daycare and he learns a lot, while DH and I raise him.  Also, I would be unhappy making DH 100% responsible for our financial situation.

    So I work out of necessity - we couldn't afford the most basic of bills if I didn't work.  I would imagine this person would say I shouldn't have had children then, right?  People like her can kiss my a$$.

    It's always great when someone uses G*d to back-up their belief system.  It sounds so strong and official .. but no one can really go to the source and challenge it ... Hey, G*d did you give me children to supervise 24 hours a day and home school until 18 .. or is high quality child-care and pubilc education okay, too?

    My darling daughter just turned 4 years old.

    this exactly.  bc of my "greed," my daughter gets to live in a safe neighborhood with good schools with plenty of stimulation so she can grow up to be a well-rounded adult.

    what website did you get this off of?  For some reason I would feel a lot better about it if it was some middle-aged man who just lost a promotion to a young woman.

    I guess I should stay home & go on Medicaid & food stamps. That would be a great thing to do for my child now wouldn't it. Seriously, people need to get their heads out of their asses. I work because I have to provide, food, shelter, health insurance, clothes & so on for my family.
