2nd Trimester

Went to the Dr. for back pain (long)

and was told I have a pinched nerve in my neck, tendinitis in my left elbow and carpal tunnel in both wrists.

Needless to say I am convinced I am the most uncomfortable pissed off pregnant women ever. Especially when the Dr. said "Well, since your pregnant I cant really do anything. Go see the physical therapist and wear wrist guards at night...for the pinched never, well that really sucks, just rest and call me in 2 months if it isnt better". Call you in 2 months if it isnt better? Are you effing brain dead lady??? I havent slept laying down in a week and cant turn my head to the left and you want me to call you in 2 months...no thanks crackhead.

Anyone have any suggestions to help with the pain in the meantime asside from the heating pad that I wish was sewn into my shirt and went everywhere with me??

  • I didn't even think about a chiropractor, I will look into that. In the meantime I think I am going to schedule a message. Thanks ladies
  • I feel for you...Im also the biotichest pregnant lady due to my sciatic nerve.  Im seriouly miserable, went to the chiro, left work early today and am still miserable.  I dont know how Im going to make it another 20 weeks!
  • There are safe pain meds while pg, I'm surprised they didn't offer you something for at night so you could sleep. Was this your regular doctor or your ob? Maybe your OB has some better suggestions?
  • I'd also consider physical therapy. Depending on what is causing the problem, a chiro may not help. A PT looks at all the muscle, tendon, skeletal issues together. I had serious back pain last year, chiro did nothing. PT got me back to 100%.

Go to the physical therapist!!! I have had chronic back bain and sciatica for several years due to a bulging disk in my lower back. I finally got it in check (still hurts, but manageable now) last year when I found my current physical therapist. They will help you identify safe exercises that you can do daily to help with the pain.

  • I see a chiro that specializes in pregnancy and she is great. I also have a hard time with lower back pain especially with this pregnancy. She also showed me some stretches that seem to help in between sessions. Hope you get better soon!
  • I've had pinched nerves and carpal tunnel in my wrists before and it?defiantly?sucks but wrist braces really do help. I use to wear them as needed and to sleep in it just kinda helps them rest i?recommend?picking them up for some?relief.

Edit: havent tried this yet but just came across it and since it was relevant figured id send it your way.
