I'm almost 25 weeks and haven't bought our crib yet, DH thought that basic Graco crib from Target for $150 would be sufficient but shouldn't you invest more for a good quality and long lasting one if this is your first kid and you plan to have more on the way?
just looking for ideas, how much did you spend on yours and where did you buy it from?
Re: Where did you buy your crib and how much?
We're planning to get the Babi Italia Pinehurst Espresso Lifetime (convertible) crib from BRU. I think it's $400. Haven't ordered it yet because it only takes 2 weeks to come in, and I don't have anywhere to put it yet.
I highly, highly, highly recommend you buy (or borrow) Baby Bargains. They review cribs according to safety and durability.
A $150 crib from Target will be safe because it is required to meet the same safety standards as $1000+ cribs at speciality stores. But, it may not be very durable. Also, many cribs now are convertible, so you can use it for the child's whole life (convert to a toddler bed then a full bed).
Ours is a Munire (Newport collection). It was about $640 with tax I believe. We did splurge a bit, but it is such good quality. We plan on having 4-5 children so we will use it for all of them & I'm positive it will last.
We will be getting the Babi Italia crib as well - I just keep holding out hoping we get a coupon to use towards it! I second getting the Baby Bargains book. I found it very helpful for all of the products you have to pick.

We're getting the Stratton crib by Westwood from Buy Buy Baby. It's $499 but gets an A rating from Baby Bargains. Buy Buy Baby also sends out 20% off furniture coupons so when I get the coupon, I'll order it.
I'd also recommend Baby Bargains. I would never have known that companies like Delta and Jardine have terrible safety recall records and Da Vinci is made of such soft pine that it will damage very easily. If you want to be sure you're getting a quality crib that will last a long time, that book is a good investment.
Since we're limited on space, we got the Baby Mod Mini Lily Crib from Wal-mart as an early gift from my grandparents (but I think it's about $170). We put it together over the weekend and we're really happy with how beautiful and sturdy it is.
ETA: Another positive is that even though it's a mini crib, it's convertible so we'll be able to use it as a toddler/regular bed. We don't plan on having any other kids (at least not for 5-6 years, if at all), so we can convert it without worrying about needing the crib for another LO.
direct buy, about $350
it would have been about $500 at a retail store.
Thanks for the input girls! I have the baby bargains but it's the older edition, time to make decision soon!
I know I'm late here, but we got the Delta Stanford crib from simplybabyfurniture.com - it was easy to put together, got great ratings, and is sturdy. Website was awesome, too - free shipping, great customer service. One more place to check when you get a mattress - us-mattress.com. We ordered one from the same place we got the crib, found the exact same one for $60 less (and free shipping) on us-mattress; luckily we got credited the difference, but it would have been easier to get it from the cheaper site in the first place. Good luck!
We got the AP Industries Lollipop crib from Buy Buy Baby for $300. We also seriously considered Ikea, but their cribs felt very low to the ground to me and a little rickety (though I know some people who have Ikea cribs and love them).
We got the same crib (in antique white) but only paid $202 including shipping- that's weird!
