If my MIL says one more shiiiity thing to me.  

 

Now I know why we kept Rylee's name a secret... why the heck didn't we do that this time?!

 

Dh and I both love the name Malakai for our son.  The name is not going to change regardless of what anyone else thinks.  But dammit, don't tell me it sounds like a GIRLS name (hello, I know you have read the Bible, woman)... and don't go suggesting other names...

Even DH told her, "that is his name, we are not changing it".  Glad to see he was throwing punches back.  Way to go DH!

    It's the name you decided on and she needs to deal with it. That said, why are you spelling it like that? The biblical spelling is Malachi. just wondering...

    We love the nickname Kai, which is why we chose the name, and its makes everything easier and still makes sense...

    I LOVE the name Malakai. It was on my short list in case H decided that he didn't want to name Mikey after himself. (which I knew would never happen).

    But good for you and great name choice!

    Meh, she can say it all she likes, it doesn't change the baby's name.  When we told my parents Elijah's name, my mom said, "Oh, well, we didn't have a good experience with an Eli!" to which I replied, "Well, I don't care about that!  His name is Elijah, not Eli!  And you can deal with it!!!"  Seriously, I was a little b!tchier than I probably should have been, but it got the point across.  

    I'm not a fan of Malakai either (but that's because EVERY single little boy I've met with that name has been like the devil's spawn, seriously crazy kids!!!!), but I wouldn't expect other's influences to sway your decisions.

    I can top all that, my MIL did not want us to name Jack, Jack because, when she first started dating Will's dad, she was also dating a Jack. And her words, "It would make your father feel bad..."

    Will took his dad to lunch and he was like, "Jack who?" Like he would care. Seriously, it was 40 YEARS AGO! Get over it!!!

    You should know that people are probably going to take your name opinions with a ocean of salt. just so you know.

    that's the thing. It's an opinion. I happen to like the name. So my opinion negates your opinion. And if she were asking for them it would be a different story, but its the name her and her DH choose therefore unwanted opinions are just plain rude.

    And carrann - I actually found it on a baby name list and remembered it was a book in the Bible, so kinda sorta!
