Is this babyfriendly?

In an effort to make our living room baby friendly we moved our huge coffee table out and want to put something more practical in its place. It has storage but since the top lifts out there is no hinge to pinch little fingers. But it is totally NMS- it's pleather and the dark brown combined with our dark brown chair is going to look really dark in here. I found this https://www.homedecorators.com/P/Soho_285W_Tufted_Storage_Ottoman/810/ which is much more my style but I am concerned it is not as practical. They are both acceptable shapes/sizes. DH keeps telling me this does to have to represent me or be in our house forever- jsut to get us thru a few years. Can you help me pull the trigger on one of them?

    We did the same thing - when we moved into our house we bought something that would be more baby-friendly.  We ended up with this:

    I really like it, it looks great, is nice and big and is super cushy.  However, I wish it had storage.  I like the ones you are deciding between.  I don't know where you live, but here in SoCal we have a furniture chain called Living Spaces where they have super affordable furniture.  They had tons of these there (which we figured out after we paid 3x as much!)  Maybe there is a similar store in your area.

    Ooh!  That works out then - there is one in Irvine off of the 5 and Alton.  I saw 4 different ones there - one was 4 seperate squares that all had storage underneath, and the tops could be either cushy leather or a nice wooden tray (you know, for your cocktail parties and stuff LOL) - I really liked it and I think it was only $250.

    I knew you were from CA with your (evil) A's bobblehead!  Go Angels! :)

    Nice- Dh's ioffice is in Irvine so that works out nicely.  Dh is from the Bay area so when I was looking around the house for a A to post in support of baby AYe he got all excited and ran in the room with his bobble head "I have AAAAAAs!!"
