Blech! I agree!! We had to do a short sale on our house (Boo! But when both of us are laid off there's not money for mortgage payments!) and had to price it almost $60K less than we paid for it. ::sigh:: The good news is, our house was only on the market for 1 week, but the short sale took forever!
Does this mean no more showings other than what you mentioned? I'm sorry. Hang in there. I'm sure it will happen soon.
Yeah, no more action. And the house that DH and I fell in love with just went under contract this afternoon. Then we found out that the lots we would have wanted if we were to build in the new subdivision are going under contract this week. And there's going to be an across-the-board price increase by the builder on everything Monday (inventory homes/lots/upgrades/new construction, etc). I don't think it's in the cards for us to end up in that neighborhood. It's really starting to stress me out with DS starting K in the fall and registration is in the next few weeks. Blah.
That and it's a bit stressful to keep the house perfect and ready to show with 2 small children. I can't imagine what it would be like if I wasn't a neat freak to begin with
I want some more showings! And preferably good offers.
Oh no! I'm sorry about the dream house/neighborhood. I remember house hunting and how attached you can get to a place. Is the district that you're in really that bad? Could you just enroll him for kindergarten with the hopes of being in and settled somewhere before September? You can always switch him to the new district.
And I remember how hard it was to keep the house picked up all the time. And Jordan was 10 at the time. I can't even fathom with two LO's.

Good house vibes are coming your way....
Oh yeah, I'm going to have to go ahead and register him here anyway. No way around that. I just really, really don't want to move him after he starts, kwim? And I realize it's not the absolute end of the world, but still....he's my baby and he'll be the youngest in his class as it is. And it's such a big adjustment anyway, you know? Ugh. Our district (elementary-wise) isn't terrible, so I know he'll be fine. I just wanted to get settled and not have to move him it all.
I appreciate the good thoughts. I seriously need to stop stressing about it, but I have zero patience and I'm a worrier, so I can't stop myself. And DH is so calm about things and keeps assuring me it will all work out. I guess I really need to let his attitude rub off on me.
It's a really crappy situation for so many people. And if you read the Buying a Home board you would assume that the only people who are in trouble are those who were stupid or irresponsible, but it's just not the case. There are a lot of people who did the right thing according to conventional wisdom and are in a world of hurt now. It sucks for so many people. I hope you have better luck selling than we are.

Yeah, the situation definitely sucks. Some people made bad financial decisions, but plenty did not go into everything blindly. I've been on Buying a Home some.

I totally know what you mean. Jordan was in 5th grade when we changed districts and I was more stressed about it than she was!
Are we married to the same man? I'm the worry wart and he lets everything roll off his back. I envy it and it can drive me mad all at the same time.
Keep me posted!
Ugh, I'm sorry
We bought in 2005 too and I'm not sure what we might actually be able to walk out of here with...
SO TRUE. Seriously. It drives me nuts even though I really, really wish I could be like that.
I'll keep you in the loop!
