Last night was awful. Hannah was up all night screaming. She was clearly uncomfortable and had a lot of gas. She had 3 poopy diapers in 1.5 hours and wouldn't nurse at all because she just kept screaming. She also has a diaper rash.
We had her 2 week appt. with the pedi today. The good news is that she's gaining weight and is up to 8 lbs. She went for an u/s of her kidneys last week. At my big u/s they discovered she had extra fluid in both kidneys and so they needed to follow up. The pedi said the fluid was still there and we had to follow up with a pedi urologist. They are going to run tests to see if she has reflux and possibly start her on antibiotics because they don't want her to get a bladder or kidney infections.
The pedi told me to cut dairy out of my diet to see if that is what is causing Hannah so much discomfort. That is easier said than done...I never realized how much cheese I ate! I also had to pump today since she was not interested in eating (she usually eats every 2-3.5 hours) at the 3.5 hour mark. I cried the whole time I pumped. Dh did get to give her the bottle and it was nice to see him do that. She went 4.5 hours without eating today. The pedi told me not to worry as long as I offered it to her and she wasn't interested to let her go. She's probably scared to drink my milk because it's making her feel so awful!
It's been such a long day.
Re: Going to pedi urologist tomorrow:(
Lots of ((((hugs)))) to you. I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow and that Hannah starts feeling better soon. I will be thinking about you guys.
Ugh, you poor thing.
It can take a very long time for dairy to leave yours and baby's system, you might not see improvement for up to a month! Did they do a fecal occult blood test (swab the poop for hidden blood?) There almost always is a positive result when a dairy allergy is involved.
GL, try coconut milk ice cream, it will keep you sane!
