IF is an illness and a tragic loss that affects you the rest of you life. Many of us IF ladies have to endure paying enormous amounts of money to these money making clinics. Many of these clinics treat us like a number. Some of us will never get that BFP and have a baby. Some of us struggle with miscarriages. People don't take this battle seriously.... It's alway the 'well you can always adopt' response. I'm tired of other illnesses getting attention and having fundraisers and having walk-a-thons and IF seems to get ignored. I'm tired of going to the hallmark section and only seeing "new Baby cards." Well,....reality is not everyone has a baby so easily! Some women endure the loss of IF or the loss associated with a miscarriage.
Yes Resolve has done wonderful things for IF strugglers, but more can be done to raise awareness. Instead of the media protraying the real struggles of battling IF, we constantly see these women who have six, seven, or eight children and they get sooo much air time and their own show!!!!!. Or we get to see older celebrities making babies and the distorted impression that it's easy to conceive at any age!... I could go on and on....
Thanks for listening and letting me vent!...
Re: I'm so so tired of IF being ignored as an illness.
Because we're fancy like that.

Well said!
It gets pretty lonely being on IF Island as I like to call it. You feel as if are lost at sea, and no one understands. If it was talked about more, maybe some people would understand the disease better and be more supportive. One can hope!
May2806-I agree 100%.
I wish that these celebs who think nothing of supporting all kinds of causes like save the dolphins would get behind Resolve or another awareness raising IF cause. All that is represented on tv are people who have had IF treatment who now have multiple multiples and they have just become America's sideshows. It really makes me furious as well.
Wow, perfectly said.
Different people in the past two days have said to my mom "Oh I heard Melissa and the hubby are trying, maybe they should just relax" I could be relaxed on a beach in the Keys for the rest of my life, and I still wouldn't get PG.
Luckily they didn't say that to my face. I can't believe that some people in 2009 still don't know about a thing called infertility.
I agree.

SAIF/PAIF IS ALWAYS WELCOMED TO POST IN MY POSTS!!!
I totally agree. An RE told me that he's doing a study and finding that the stress IF causes a woman is equivalent to the stress a woman experiences when she finds out she has cancer!!
I was both sad and relieved to find that out b/c people don't know what's its like to deal w/ IF. When his study is published, hopefully, all women can have some starting point of understanding what it's like dealing w/ IF. Everyone can imagine, at some level, what it would feel like to be told you have cancer. I would think it's that same sinking feeling of realizing your life is never again going to be what you've imagined it to be. Wiping motherhood away from a women who so desperately wants it is devastating.
I'm sorry that any of us have to deal w/ this. When DH and I are finished w/ this journey, with or w/o a baby, I plan to focus on IF awareness and getting it the respect it deserves.
I also want to be part of creating IF awareness! And, like one pp said...it's like being in an island by yourself! Thank you all for your replies. This board is my lifesaver:) (((HUGS)) to all you wonderful ladies.
