taking a temperature... help??

Okay, so this sounds stupid... but DD has really never had a fever before. I picked her up from my mom's after work and she said she's been acting like she doesn't feel well and she was a little warm. If I take her temp under her arm, is there some kind of add a degree rule or something? I think I read that somewhere... but I'm not sure. I know rectal is most accurate, but I'd like to avoid that for her sake.

  • Yes you are right...you add 1 degree for axillary temps (under arm)  GL!!

  • I have found that taking the underarm can be kind of difficult - my DD is a squirmy worm.  I do the rectal, and put a little bit of aquaphor on there before I do it....she doesnt even seem to notice.  GL, hope she feels better soon :)
