Where did you and DH/SO go your first date?

We didn't really have a first date. He was visiting his sister (my college roommate) and we stayed up talking one night. We started dating right after that. He lived in OH and I lived in TX so it was long distance for 6 months until he moved to TX.

DH and I went to the mall to grab costumes and decorations and camping supplies for a huge halloween party at a mutual friends as we were going to ride together since it was over an hour away. That was the first time we met in person and we ended up staying up all night talking afterwards.

We were "dating" for a week before we went on an actual date. But, we went to Palio's in downtown Ann Arbor. He brought me a pink carnation. After, we walked around town, then rented a movie and watched it in his dorm.

I remember literally every single thing that happened that night.

We worked together at a restaurant, and a bunch of us were supposed to meet at Rafferty's to kick off a night of . . . well, drinking, since that's all we did back then. However, DH and I were the only ones who showed up at Rafferty's. I remember sitting there with him and thinking, this is so awkward, it feels like a date or something. He probably rigged it so we were there alone. He always liked me. Wink

We went to see "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind." We were almost the only two people seeing the movie (10:00 on a Sunday night), but another couple walked in right as the movie started.

we talked on Match for 2 weeks, then met in person one Saturday afternoon at a casual bar at 2pm.

I had to leave by 6pm to get to my next date for a House of Blues concert that night with someone else.

DH and I never had a first date. When we met he lived in Indianapolis and I lived in WV. The first 2.5 years (including 1 year of engagement) was long distance.

First "official" date that we both consider a date.... (we went to a couple of highschool dances together so we didn't have to go by ourselves)

He took me bowling which was a ton of fun and the power went out. It was crazy and scary (I am afraid of the dark and yes I still am). Since we were friends he knew this already and he come over and gave me a hug and told me it would be okay and the lights would be back soon. It totally took alot of the awkard "I am totally here on a DATE with my BEST Friend" nerves away.

I still love him for it.

We went to see Dr. Strangelove. It was playing at a local indie theater in celebration of its 40th anniversary.

It was sort of awkward because neither of us knew whether or not it was a date. He was late because he had to get gas so I went ahead and bought my ticket and was convinced he was going to stand me up. When he finally came, he bought two tickets and then played it off like it was force of habit from going out with his ex (he later admitted that he'd been debating whether or not to buy my ticket and was disappointed to learn I'd already bought mine).

We went ice skating. It was june, so there was noone else there, just the two of us. It was very nice- and I learned DH can't ice skate (but it was his idea to go).

We met at a bar in Athens called the Winery when one of our friends was home from Iraq and we had a little get together for him. DH found $200 on the floor and bought everyone drinks and wine. He is one of those people who find money all the time!

We had been aquaintences in high school, but never friends - we never knew each other well. His best friend was trying to date me (again - we tried about once a year all through high school, and it was just weird. Clearly we were supposed be just friends) and took me as his date to DH's birthday party. Oops, I left the party early with DH (the birthday boy and not my original date) and we went and sat at a restaurant for 6 hours talking.
