I just wish people would put it in the subject line!
  • I think I am the only person not annoyed by these posts. It is such an exciting moment that you just want to share it with the world (even if the world could care less!) Smile
  • I am curious as to why some feel like the "It's A __" is silly? (Excuse my newbie factor) Embarrassed Oooo, Maybe it's the same reason I laugh at the "Will someone be my labor buddy" question. ?!

Its not so much that we don't care.. we know its exciting. But putting "Its a.. " or "Add me to Team..." in the subject line thinking everyone will get all crazy with anticipation is a bit silly, IMO. Just say what it is in the subject!?

  • I like the posts, but i usually dont open the its a... posts.  I like seeing who is having what, but I'd prefer it be in the title.

Ditto.  Everyone's excited and wants to share, and that's great!  But just put it in the subject line.  No one on here knows you well enough to want the anticipation of having to open the post to find out!

  • This actually does not bother me at all. I know it bugs some people though, and I can respect that. I actually find the post last night about this subject way more annoying where people ended up really getting into it and calling one another morons and such. Seems a silly topic to get so heated about, hope no one got their e-feelings hurt.
  • If it annoys you then don't open them.

Its sortof like when someone titles a post  "I hate it when.." or "I really love..."  Just a way to get someone to open your post and read what all you have to say.  And when you're reporting boy or girl you are usually reporting all the other stats on the little one and how the visit went.

  • I guess I am kind of the opposite.  I am drawn to these posts!  Everytime I see "It's a..........", I immediately have to open it and see.  Even though I don't know any of these ladies personally, it is still exciting for me.  I don't know why.

Whoa I missed that. Yeah I don't care THAT much about it. I just caught the pet peeve post about it.

  • Ok- here's the deal. When I first posted about this so called "issue" I was simply saying that I didn't think the suspense was all that necessary on the boards. It was merely a pet peeve that came up a long time ago in a bump pet peeves post. People say anything in those posts and board pet peeves are just that- small things that bug you. Not things you lose sleep over or want to offend people over.

I never meant for people to think that it meant they couldn't/shouldn't be excited about posting their news when they learn what they are having. I just thought the suspense was more exciting for family and friends or people who know you more. All I said was "you won't spoil anything by saying what it is in the post title." Which is true. No one's going to come in your post and say, "OMG- WHY did you say it was a girl in the title? You ruined it for all of us!" LOL. But an email to your friends IRL that's titled "Guess what! We're having a ......" makes perfect sense to me.

As it turns out, opinions on this vary. Some really don't like the posts at all or don't care. That wasn't me. When I posted that we "break the trend" of "it's a ..." posts and just say BOY or GIRL I was surprised to learn that some people actually think these posts shouldn't be made at all. Comments like "I'll just see their new badge," were made. That wasn't me either.

Now it's come up so many times that I think people are starting to think it's an "issue" or a "rule" that some are trying to put in place. My name always comes up- which is fine. But I do want to point out that I've always said that I think people do it just because they see everyone else do it. Almost every time this comes up, someone says, "Oh ok. Well when I find out next week, I'll put it in the title!" No big deal. It's not like anyone is really that set on surprising the board. It just doesn't occur to them not to announce the same way they've seen a lot of other people do it.

I feel like I've typed way too much ...LOL.... so goodbye! :)
