2nd Trimester

Is anyone here Greek?

If so, I have a few questions for you....

1. ?Are you following the naming tradition of naming your child after the paternal grandparents?

2. Will you be staying at home for the first 40 days after the baby is born??

Re: Is anyone here Greek?

  • I am was baptised Greek Orthodox but am not fully practicing anymore. I am thinking of giving the baby the middle name of the paternal grandparents. I will be a SAHM after the baby so I guess I will be following the 40 days. We are baptising the baby catholic since DH is catholic and we go to church every Sunday, but we will bring in from Greek traditions into the baptism.

  • My mother is Greek. I really don?t follow the ?Greek traditions? when it comes to certain aspects of it. However I did name my first daughter Athena, my great great nana was very adamant in doing so and loved the name since I was a little girl. I will be naming my last daughter ?Nina Rose? Rose being the name of my Nana and so forth.

I?m a SAHM now and will stay this way for a while. I think it?s very important if one can to give their child your up-most full attention which is what I do now.
  • My husband is Greek, but his family is not traditional.  His mother is Italian. His sister was baptised Greek Orthodox, but he was baptised Catholic.

I am catholic, but we have decided to convert to Greek Orthodox and have the baby baptised Greek Orthodox. She will most likely go to Greek school and have Greek dancing lessons.

Our baby is not being named after the paternal grandparents.  I wish I could stay at home the first 40 days after she is born. If all is ok, I will be back to work at 6 weeks...I guess I could stay at home, because that's 42 days. I never thought about it.

  • Both DH and I are 100% Greek.  We were both baptized Greek Orthodox and follow all of the traditions.

We are naming our son after my husband's late father.

Yes, I will be staying home with the baby for the first 40 days.  I doubt we will stay inside the house the whole time (I might go nuts if I do) but we will definately not be going to church until the 40 days are up.
