Success after IF

update: back from OB - we are going for the gold...

well, whatever i was feeling yesterday was probably related to further effacement, b/c i am now 80% effaced, but still only 1cm.  BP looks good, weight is leveling off again (up 1/2 lb this week).  he was very encouraging, and still thinks we can make it nine more days....

i have mixed feelings - mostly just gratitude to be at a "safe" place no matter what happens now!!  but part of me got really excited about possibly being headed into labor... and with how i've been feeling physically for a few weeks now, getting worse every day... i have to shamefully admit that i am about ready to be done... and PLEASE know that that is completely irrelevant to me next to what's best for the babies.  it's just that between the sleeping in a recliner and not getting much sleep to begin with, the pubic bone disaster, the now basically dislocated hips, the back pain, the beginnings of what looks like PUPPS, the several-times-daily nosebleeds and coughing up blood... it has sort of caught up to me ;)

BUT.  i can do this for 9 more days.  i can SO do this... right??

thanks as always for your awesome support.  i don't know what i would do without you guys :)

  • HECK YEAH, YOU CAN DO IT!!!

You've done a great job, Gretchen!  I'm so happy for you that you're so close to meeting your little ones.  I can't imagine how uncomfortable you must be.  I know I was uncomfortable near the end and I didn't have all the physical maladies you're dealing with, I was just big.

And who knows, maybe it won't be 9 more days.  Maybe the babies will decide they can't wait that long to meet their mommy!

  • You've done such an amazing job. You should be so proud of yourself. You can definitely do this. We're all cheering you on. I can't believe that in just 9 days you'll have your little ones. I followed your story on TTTC, and I'm so happy for you.

  • You can do it!!! Just take it one day at a time. It will be amazing when you see them for the first time.

One quick question, has your doctor checked your clotting factors?  I had terrible nosebleeds also so my doctor checked mine just to be sure.  Just another safeguard before delivery since twin pregnancies are more at risk for bleeding after delivery.  Just want to make sure you're safe :)

actually, ironically, the reason i have sooo much bleeding is largely b/c of the heparin i'm taking for my clotting disorders... so i am purposely anticoagulated at this point.  however it wears off in 12 hours apparently so i would stop the night before the c/s.  and hopefully that will do the trick... i am a little nervous about the whole thing though...

  • Just imagine those healthy babies of yours and how nice it will be to have them come home with you right away. You have done a great job Momma, and every day you keep them in there just further helps them with their lung development. This is a gift you can only give them once - and it could help them for life. Hang in there - the next 9 days (or less) will fly by!
  • You can do it! I'm impressed that your little ones are still staying put.  They are trying to be nice and healthy to make mom proud!

  • Gretchen, you deserve an award for what you have been through thusfar. And you know what? it is TOTALLY okay to want to be done. But you can seriously make it 9 more days and those days will be great for the little ones. Your time will come! In the meantime, try to get as much rest as possible. You're almost there!
  • Don't you dare apologize for one moment that you're ready to be done being pregnant.  Growing a person is hard work - growing 2 must be more than twice as hard - and it's only normal to want to stop feeling pain!  You can simultaneously feel blessed and love being pregnant AND be ready to move on to the next step.  You can make it another 9 days, but even if you don't you have been AMAZING these past 9 months.  You, my dear, kick ass.

    You're almost there!!!
