NBR: Oprah has her own religion now??!!! WTF?!

i may be late on this, but this link just came through my email. I saw  this video and sparked my interest so i did a little research. OMG! This woman is out of control! I really wish people weren't so simple minded to follow everything this woman says! ugh...she based her disbelief in God/Jesus over a sermon that mentioned "God is a jealous God"... and this ignorant woman thought, "God is jealous of me?!" Just ignorant. If you have time read the comments underneath the video... pretty interesting comments.   [vent over]

    I love Oprah, still.  She does so much for other people, a lot of it that doesn't get media attention.  I'm not going to start disliking her because of choice in religion.  I don't agree with her, I think it's a little crazy, but I don't dislike her for it.  If that were the case then I'd have to dislike half the people in my life.

    I dunno. I think they're intentionally putting certain things out of context. They're calling it the Church of Oprah because she's "denying God" or some such, and the video is meant to appeal to Christians. Maybe that's just me. I think the jealous statement could have been worded much better, but overall, I don't have an issue with what she said.

    I have heard about this before.  I stopped listening and watching Oprah a long time ago....mostly because what she speaks about in regards to Christianity and Jesus is so far left.  I agree she has done many great things for the community and for those less fortunate.  But I just get really nervous for those who say they are Christians (Those who say they believe that Jesus is the only way to salvation) and yet also believe in the writings of books such as A New Earth etc.  I try to stay on top of other religions so if anyone asks me questions about differences I can at least show I have researched and I can answer them. But for the most part I really avoid teaching that will not help me grow in my personal relationship with God.

    HONESTLY LADIES!!!  Did you watch the video?? Oprah isn't starting her own religion nor did she say God is jealous of her money. It is to sell a freaking book!  Honestly...can't you see through this Christian Right propaganda.  Are we so closed minded that we believe that our Jewish, Muslim, and Buddhist friends are damned to HELL because they do not believe exactly what we do.  However, do a little research and see that each of these religions share basically the same fundamentals.  AND yes there are radical sides to EVERY religion.  I ask you here...who is passing judgement...It's not God.  I feel blessed that I am member at a Methodist Church that embraces all religions and doesn't not use fear tactics to hold our religious community together.  Honestly...next topic!  I'll get off my hormonal soap box now!
