i think it varies based on your doctor & what your insurance will cover. ive had 2 so far but that was only because i had episodes of bleeding/spotting. i'm having one at 12 weeks & 18 weeks, but only because I am opting to do the NT scan. I have no clue if I have any after that.
I have seen some people on here can't have one until 19 or 20 weeks because of insurance. ?I just wonder why insurances won't allow for more than one. ?Does it cost them that much?

This. My insurance covers as many as needed as long as there is a medical code (dating, viability, anatomy, etc.) attached. I got one at 6 (date), 7 (viability), 9 (due to a fall), and 11.5 (NT). Then I'll get one for anatomy at 18-22. I don't know if I get any before then.
I had one when I had just found out at the gynecologist office, I had a rather large cyst too. One in the ER in florida, one a week after that ER us at the gyno again, 2 days later at the OB for a second opinion, and a week later at the OB to make sure everything was still OK. I had some bleeding too though so thats why. The last one was just for dating.
I go back Thursday for a regular appointment, i'm not sure when the next one will be.
Woah. *gets the flame retardant blanket for i*heart*him.
I think this was a good question. Sheesh.
My doctor told me (on the DL) that as long as there's a medical reason we can get as many as we need. I'm getting my first in one week (I'll be 7w and a few days). Also if you opt for genetic testing there's more.
My insurance will cover as many as the doctor says are medically necessary. However, I have a friend who found out after her third u/s (because of a cyst) that her insurance only covers one. So they've had to pay out of pocket for all the other ones that the doctor has recommended. It's about $300 per visit.
Re: How many U/S do you get?
In my bag: Canon 60D, 50mm 1.4, Tamron 28-75 2.8, 430exii

I'm still on the fence about which tests to get.
But I'll let ya know.
I had an initial dating (abdominal) u/s at 8w0d. I'll have another at 20 weeks. That's it, unless something is wrong at 20 weeks.
