2nd Trimester

Found out why my Dr. sucks...

She's only been practicing for 7 months...so uhhh I'm thinking I want someone else to cut my baby out? Would you?

Re: Found out why my Dr. sucks...

  • Oh yikes.. yeah, I'd be a little unnerved by that.?

On the other hand, if you're looking for a silver lining... maybe she can remember everything she was taught more because its so fresh on her mind??

Ok, thats a bit of a stretch, I know... :/

    How is her bedside manner??

  • Yikes!  Does she have her won office or is she part of a practice that could have another more experienced OB on call?

If you haven't gotten a reassuring feeling from her your entire pregnancy, you might want to look elsewhere soon.

  • i am probably thinking that she would NOT be touching me with anything sharp. not for at least a few more years.
  • Just because she's young does not mean she doesn't know what she's doing...one of my pet peeves as a fairly recently graduated pharmacist...I might look young but I am not an idiot!

  • If she sucks you should leave- regardless of how long she's been practicing.  But by the time you deliver it'll be 10-11 months which I'm guessing is  alot of deliveries.  Maybe ask how many c/s she's done?

  • She's nice, but she always seems like she is in a hurry and can't wait to get out of the office. That's irritating, I am going to talk to the office about changing to another Dr. in the practice, I just don't know if they frown upon this or not. The other Dr. in my town that has really good reviews won't take a new patient after 26 weeks! Ugh, I would totally drive to two hours back home to see my old Dr. and go to my AMAZING old Hospital :(
  • I wouldn't say a new doctor = a crappy doctor, but if you're unhappy with your treatment so far, that's reason enough to leave. I was ready to switch practices because my doc was awful - always late and always rushing out. I stumbled upon another - wonderful - doctor at the same practice and am very happy with the care I'm receiving.
  • I'm seeing both sides of the story!! My DH is in his first year of Family Medicine residency, and has to deal with people not totally trusting him because he hasn't been doing this for 10 years. However, he's got all the fresh info in his head, and is working his a$$ off to ensure he is doing everything right. If he is rushing, it's because there is a huge list of patients for him to see and he has to get everything done. He is thorough with every patient and ensures that he answers all their questions and that there is nothing left to do, but he's damn busy!!

However, on the other side, I had an early u/s because of some spotting, and a resident came in who looked like he was about 17! (My DH is 31, so it doesn't 'look' too bad). That felt uncomfortable - not because of the time he had been working, but just cos he was so damn young!! It was wierd - like having my 18 year old cousin and his dorky friends peering around my va-jay-jay! LOL...

Don't EVER be afraid to trust a new doctor just because they are new - every doc was new once, and most of them are making far worse mistakes when they have settled into lazy habits than those who are on the ball because they are just starting out!!!

Disclaimer: If you are having trouble with your doc because of something OTHER than the amount of time they have been practicing, that is totally different!!!
