2nd Trimester

How does one fail...

the glucose test. I've read so many people say they've passed it. I'm only 16 weeks so I obviously haven't had the test brought up to me yet. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?? Thanks

Re: How does one fail...

  • It tests for diabetes. There is no way to "pass" or "fail". It just depends how your body breaks down sugars while being pregnant.

  • If your pancreas doesn't release enough insulin your blood sugar will be high and you will fail the test.
  • For example, my friend failed hers so horribly that they wont even do the 3 hour test.

  • It tests for Gestational Diabetes, not Diabetes. Pregnant women produce more hormones and some of those hormones make your body insulin resistance (the insulin your body produces cannot turn the sugar {mainly carbs} you eat into energy) and if they do you have GD.

Sorry. I should have clarified. I thought the gestational would be common knowledge.
