Do you take prescription prenatal vitamins, or just over the counter vitamins?
My RE prescribed Folgard for additional Folic Acid. When I was pg, she also gave me prescription vitamins, but never filled the prescription, as I m/c immediately. I actually decided to fill it and take those as oppose to the regular Centrum I was taking... no real reason why. I'm in the 2WW, and am very hopeful for this cycle. I just want to be prepared.
Re: Poll - Prenatal Vitamins
I took one month of Rx (primacare one) but they were discontinued. My RE said that any over the counter multi is fine as long as I get 800mcg of folate or more.
I actually prefer this because I have high iron and have been told to take vitamins without iron. All prenatals have iron, so instead I take a senior formula multi (no iron) and supplemental folate. I also take fish oil, a Rx vitamin D supplement, calcium, and mega-antioxidant blend. If I actually get pregnant I'll probably switch to a Rx prenatal assuming the iron situation can be sorted out.
I am a runner, knitter, scientist, DE-IVF veteran, and stage III colon cancer survivor.
i started out taking primacare, then due to a mix-up with the pharmacy, i started taking one-a-day prenatals until i could get my new rx.
my RE said they the over-the-counters don't give you enough folic acid - that there is a limit to the amount they can have in them. so now i am taking prescription prenate.
Because we're fancy like that.
Target brand - my RE has never even asked me what kind I take - just wants to know I'm taking something.
I also take fish oil, calcium, and probiotics when I remember.

Yes, I take a prescription pre-natal called CitraNatal + DHA - it is 2 pills. I have been on them now for 13 months. They cost me $50 a month approx at CVS - had I have known when I started them that we had MFI and that it would take us time to get PG, I probably would have not accepted the script and just taken an over the counter PNV ... I do like them though and will just continue with them, unless my IVF RE changes them....
for the past six months I have been taking a Prenate Elite (prescription)
prior to that I took GNC vitamin pack for pregnancy
I take isotonix prenatals (powder mixed with water better absorbed) and I don't have to swallow big pills.
