...attending our Bradley Method classes so far make me look FORWARD to labor and delivery? haha We had our 2nd last night and I'm excited and not at all scared anymore. I'm so happy we chose this method and natural...if anyone is still researching/thinking about which way they want to go.
Also, if you're at all interested in how all the interventions and medical things came to be and why they're done, what they lead to, etc. I'm 50 pages into the book "Pushed" and cannot recommend it enough. So interesting!
Re: Is it sad that...
Labor and Delivery has never scared me... I have the best OB and will be delievering at the best hospital in our city. I have complete confidence that I will get the very best (and safest) delivery possible no matter what my body decides to do.
Congrats on being happy with your decision!!!
That is good. I should clarify, I wasn't scared of anything bad happening really or that my care wouldn't be good, but just the general stuff (ie: it would be so painful and not 'work' w/ my tiny body, etc), but now I am so confident I can do it all naturally and it will actually even be easier (for me) if I just let my body do what it's supposed to from start to finish instead of intervening with things.
I'm reading the Bradley book and I'm completely excited for labor!
You may want to ask me again in 2 mos. or so though, something tells me I might be a little more anxious then!
What's the title and author? I've been looking for a book on the Bradley method
I chose our doula (originally found her name on dona.org) and researched what she was all about and found she taught Bradley classes. I bet you could look it up through their website/Google.
Here's a link for the book I've got. It was recommended to me by a friend who's had 4 natural childbirths, and so far I've found it really helpful!
https://www.amazon.com/Natural-Childbirth-Bradley-Way-Revised/dp/0452276594/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1238510136&sr=1-2
.
how many classes will you be taking?
I am interested in natural birthing as well, although with twins and I dont know the liklihood. But I want to be prepared, of course, in case the stars align.
Yup, unfortunately that's so common and it's really sad. Pushed talks a lot about this. It's odd something that's so not normal has become the norm.
Our classes our 8 weeks, 3 hrs on Monday nights. Normally there are 12 I think, but ours are either longer each time she she condenses or something. She's been a doula in the area for over 20 years so her knowledge, even besides the basic Bradley stuff, is so interesting and helpful. I love it!
