2nd Trimester

My childhood crush could be joining my OB clinic

I grew up in church with this guy that I just looooved - from about 6th grade off and on until college.  I just thought he was the perfect guy.  I eventually grew out of it, met and married my husband.  He went to med school and decided to be an OB - he currently lives in North Louisiana with his wife and is finishing his residency.  His parents still go to our church, are dear friends of my parents and his dad is one of my husband's number one fans.  He comes home for Christmas, we're friends, all is good.  His parents mentioned recently that he and his wife would love to move home and he's been interviewing at clinics here in town.  SUPER excited for his mom - she's missed him a lot.  And then she told me that he interviewed with my doctor's office and my doctor is the one that gave him the tour of the hospital.  He just loved her, loved the clinic, loved the way they do business - they're his favorites and he really hopes he gets the job.  Um.  NO.  Eek!  Ex-crush or not - he a childhood friend and I just REALLY don't want him anywhere near the business end of my delivery.  He could be starting as early as this summer and could easily be the doctor on call.  Obviously I'm a happily married adult who does not harbor secret romantic feelings towards this guy - but STILL.  It seems squicky.

Bump freakout over.

  • Haha, wow - I can definitely see how that would be awkward! Hopefully if he takes the job with your clinic, he won't be delivering until after you've been through!

  • weird.

but you can always just ask that he not ever be your doctor.

  • LOL, that would be weird.  Hopefully you don't have him show up.

Hahaha, that would be super awkward!!
  • OMG!  That sounds like a realy weird nightmare or something.  I would just make a request that he not deliver you or any exams to the clinic.  They should respect your wishes and I am sure the hospital has another doctor on call in a worst case scenario situation.
  • I would think they could do as much as possible to avoid having him deliver you, conflict of interest?  LOL, I don't know, but I agree, I would feel a bit weird about it too!

  • I'm willing to bet that even though he's probably the perfect medical professional, he probably wouldn't want to examinate or deliver you either. :)
  • awkward!!! I love the way you called it the business end of your delivery. Hilarious!
