24 weekers....movement question

how much is your kid moving around? mine seems so sporadic...I usually feel him on my way to work in the morning then he is quiet for a while. kicks a little after lunch and is pretty quiet in the afternoons. right before bedtime seems to be his most active time but sometimes it feels like hours go by without really feeling anything. Just curious how much your babies are moving, and are you noticing definite patterns? Is it constant movement, or intermittent? TIA.

Re: 24 weekers....movement question

  • My child has been waking me up around 3 am for the last 3 days kicking all over the place. She will finally calm down and then when I get up and get ready she is moving around pretty much most of the day. However, there are hours where I wont feel her but kick maybe once or twice then she goes full force at night when I lay down. She has been more active in the last week than she has ever been.

  • That seems pretty consistant with the movements I've been feeling.
  • I can still go almost a whole day without feeling her, but she's getting more consistent.

I generally feel the baby in the mornings (usually on the way to work or right after I get to work) and then in the evenings when I lie down on the couch after dinner.  In the past week or so, I've also started feeling her when I lie down to go to bed at night, and also more frequently throughout the day.

So, I'm starting to learn her little patterns, but they still change a lot (on Saturday I didn't feel her at all until around 3pm).

I'm trying very hard not to get too worked up about it -- you can't even do kick counts until 28 weeks, so until then I'm just trying to be greatful for every time I do feel her move!

  • you know whats funny is that as soon as I posted that he started doing flips in there.

I thought I read somewhere that you can expect movement to be consistent by 26-27 weeks, but I can't remember for sure now.

  • I'm just shy of 24 weeks, but I have noticed somewhat of a pattern to this little one's movement.

I can always expect to feel her for a couple of hours in the morning, probably due to my cup of coffee. She's pretty still throughout the afternoon until around 4-5pm when she really jumps around! And then as soon as I go to bed I feel her for awhile; sometimes into the early morning. She's pretty predictable unless I have a day where I'm on my feet for a long time. I tend to feel her less on the weekends when we do more running around.

  • She moves around breakfast time... early morning for while... and then pretty calm until afternoon and evening time. She's still sporatic.
  • Still sporadic movement for me too. I do tend to feel her more when I'm sitting still, like at my desk at work, and less on the weekends when I'm cleaning the house or running errands. I think it's pretty normal at this point.
  • Mine goes crazy during my classes. He went totally bonkers yetersday. He finally moved up to settle behind my belly button. Sometimes he does get quiet, but I feel at least a few kicks every day.

  • I have had a lot more movement the last two weeks but it's definitely very sporadic. Sometimes I won't feel anything for most of the day then some days he's moving all over. No pattern really I just notice if i am sitting at work not moving much he seems more active then if I am running around doing things.

  • Definitely sporadic for me, too - not too much during the day - just forceful kicks or squirms here and there, but at night when I lay down on the couch and when I get into bed, there is usually a flurry of movement for a while.

My doc says this is completely normal and perfect for this stage. :)
