Starting Lupron Sun.- advice?

I start Lupron for our DE cycle on Sunday and havev never used Lupron before.  Last IVF we did 5 shots a day, but since my donor does the stimming this time I am telling myself this will be a piece of cake.  Anything I should know...?  Does Lupron get refrigerated and do you take it at the exact same time every day just like the Follistim?  I am actually scared of AF since I haven't cycled since Jan, and before my Lap.  The RE has kept me on BCP continuously to hold back the endo and AF.

Re: Starting Lupron Sun.- advice?

  • Hi there!

Lupron is a piece of cake, for me, it was the easiest shot.  I refridgerate it and take it out about 20 - 30 minutes before injection so that it comes down to room temp.  It doesn't burn like follistim or menopur does, and at the most, some people get a little itchy bump for a few minutes afterwards.  I've gotten that itchy bump a few times, but not often at all.  I notice that if the lupron is at room temp, that doesn't really ever happen.  Could be coincidence, I don't know.

Good luck and let us know if you have more questions!

  • Oh, one more thing... lupron does seem to cause headaches and hot flashes for a lot of people.  I experienced both of those side effects on lupron but they went away when I added estrogen. GL!
  • Thanks!  That doesn't sound bad at all!  I already get serious night sweats and have been getting headaches for that last week or so from the BCP, so I guess I have nothing to lose?
